STATE OF TEXAS v. TOMAS GALLO

Our firm was appointed to assist with the defense investigation of Tomas Gallo, accused of brutally raping and murdering his girlfriend's three-year-old daughter. Mrs. Belshaw assisted the defense by viewing prosecutory evidence and advising the defense as to the validity and usefulness of this evidence. Amanda's extensive experience with interviewing children helped the defense attorneys figure out how to proceed through a critical portion of the trial. Mr. Gallo was found guilty of the crime in November 2002, but prior to the sentencing phase of the trial, new information surfaced that halted the judicial process and forced the judge to place a gag order on those involved with the case. Early in January 2003, a mistrial was declared due to a complication with one of the jurors.

STATE OF TEXAS v. ZIPF

Scott Belshaw & Associates was hired to assist with the criminal defense of B. Zipf. In July 2004, then-17-year-old girl was driving a car early one morning when she lost control of the vehicle and crashed. Killed in the wreck was Gwendolen Davey, a kindergarten teacher. Initially Breanna was charged with manslaughter, but around May 2005 the charges were upgraded to felony murder. Trial proceeded in September 2005 and Miss Zipf was found guilty of the felony murder. Once again, our firm's expertise with sentencing and mitigation issues was called upon, and after the assistance of Scott and Larry Hoff, Miss Zipf was sentenced to a ten years probation by the jury, with strict requirements placed upon her by the judge.
